SHORT GROUP BIO ABOUT THE
Zambian Vocal Group is a group of 5 young men from the country of Zambia Africa. Our group started way back in 1985 from a small church in kalingalinga. We had never dreamed of being in the U.S ever but through God's grace a visiting missionary discovered us in 1989. Our Group was then called Zambian Acappella with the group members Daniel Mwanza was our director of music-James Mbewe-Godfrey Tembo-Zaccheaus Zulu-Richard Fulumana-Josephat Mbenga-Webster Munchini-Oliver Mabiya-Thomas Simonde, Sylvester Kalandanya Pupe Sichangwa this was the original Zambian Acappella.
We first introduced a program called reach out to raise money for the purchase of the land. A group of people from a small church in North Carolina were among the first donors, before long. The program caught momentum, we had more than 600 people from across the United States donate money to this noble cause. The program helped us to raise a significant amount of money which we used in the initial construction of the school.About 2 and half years ago we formed a non-profit organization called Teach One to focus solely on the construction and the ongoing needs of the school.
We toured from 1993 to 1996 in and out of the states as Zambian Acappella; but throughout the years our group has gotten smaller. When we did our tours then we helped different schools around Zambia. In 2000 we changed the name to Zambian vocal group, by then we were attending college in Corsican; Navarro College in Corsican Texas. After we finished with college we found ourselves going on the road full time this time we had a different mission; with some of us being orphans we took on a school that was run down in a poverty stricken community of Chainda.We have been building and sponsoring this school since 2004. We provide all the needs for these kids to go to school for free.The tours we do in the U.S and sales of our CD's helps with the costs to run this school. We have about 250 kids that depend on the five guys from the Zambian Vocal Group to provide for them and their Teachers. These kids go from 1st Grade to 7th Grade. Some missionaries helped us come to America and we feel its our opportunity to help our fellow Zambian orphans. We feel we are making a difference by giving them the only hope they need right now, having no parents for some of them.
